Just got a grande cherokee, couple of problems.

Further to my other thread i just picked up a 2.7 crd 04 limited and am very pleased with it, much better than i thought it would be, a bit of an american boat but thats to be expected considering its from the states 
a very nice wafter though and quite quick for a big motor.It was reading 31mpg whn i got home, i am under the impression thats US gallons too so am i right in thinking approx 37mpg?
Anyway 2 little problems i have noticed neither major.
On the dash under the speedo nothing lights up , i assume this is meant to display what gear i,m in like other american autos i have driven, but nothing? Any known issues there?
What i can only describe as the door/window rubbers seem to have a thin piece of metal under the rubber which in turn seems to sit on the actual door acting as a seal (its the rubber strip at the bottow of each door window) the metal piece which is immediately under the rubber has literally rotted away, really badly, the door seems 100% perfect. Where can i get these from as i have searched but dont knwo there correct name, i may have a trip down to the stealers tomorrow but imagine i,ll be robbed, would be easier to order them from the states i reckon.
