just wondering if any one knew of any off road centres in the north yorkshire area, i live in guisbrough (if anyone knows it!) and a myself and a few mates try to get out to a pay and play day/ green laning once a week, we have done most of the green lanes nearby to us but find them a bit short as we quite like to make a whole day of it when we go out. and weve also tried the off road centre at robin hoods bay which was great but we fancy a change for next week. obviously ive tried google to no avail, theres a centre near thirsk but its 65 quid per vehicle! which is steep. sp if anyone knows of any good off road centres or any nice long green lanes starting in the north yorkshire area we would very much appreciate any info! cheers guys

You could try Langdale Quest - although there was a rumour that the chap that owned it had shut up shop and done a runner.

There is also a centre near Thirsk.

Have you tried the Beadlam Rigg green lane. I managed to get my SIII LW stuck there on my own in winter (idiot!). That's a challenge.

There is also a farm on the Helmsley TT road (Helmsley end) which hosts LR events - not sure which club though.

Start at SE 61282 95267. Head south. Brings you out at high farm and ultimately just past Helmsley on the Scarborough road. Be warned though, the ruts are deep and it's easy to get stranded on your diffs. Nice little climb up Rollgate bank to.

Another option is Rudland Rigg, which is further east - although this is really easy.

Have you done all the Gizzy stuff - I know it well. I used to pedal up there with a load of Gizzy lads on a Tuesday night, and there are miles of tracks that have been trashed by 4x4s.

Are there any panel & paint friendly lanes I could take our Suzuki on in the Cleveland/North Yorkshire area?

The track up to the right in Hutton Village (On the bend) runs up and over to Precy Cross Rigg. Not sure on the legalities as I've only over pedalled it, but there are some bloody huge ruts across the top of the Moor. I've always known the route as the "Unsuitables" as it was signed as Unsuitable for Motors which suggests that access is legal. The start was re-surfaced a couple of years ago for Logging access. Once you're on Gizzy moor, just follow the tracks.

There are supposed to be some over commondale and around blakey also. Get your OS Map out and have a day exploring.

Use a foam roller - much better finish.

too late!!!! a thick layer of pastel green has been applied! going to flat it off again anyway and do another coat so will probably have to get a foam roller, wasnt too bothered about the finish to be honest, only paid 300 quid for it with tax and test. but it was been partially rubbed down when i got it so was a bit multi coloured and the previous owners colour of choice was sonme sort of hideous blue! i only really use it for off roading and general running about anyway!
