not sure what your're getting at normal bloke, what companies that do 4x4 insurance??
as far as the plain goes its like a normal road. to use byways the vehicle has to have tax insurance mot and licence for the vehicle type.
comes under HIGHWAYS and byways act. any vehicle off road has to carry the same legal requirements of any vehicle used for public roads!!
I'm sure you knew that though.

I appreciate the requirements for using the Highway(inc BOATS/UCRs etc). What I was suggesting(and I'm sure have probably got it covered)is that if you are starting a club and organising outings, you may be exposing yourself to liability in certain areas. It's a can of worms I'd not want to go near, but good luck all the same.
FWIW I've had a quick look at your site. I'm not a 4x4er and am not in your area, so I'm not going to be looking normally, but if I was, I think I would be put off very quickly by the bl***y adverts popping up everywhere!
Also, viewing it on my laptop I have to scroll left, right, up, down all the time as it's too big for a laptop size screen.
Good luck though, hope you find people to go out and play with!

Hi,
nice idea but I think this is one of the problems with the UK 4x4 scene - years ago there were the ARC (now ALRC) regional clubs, NORC and the AWDC. Now we seem to have regional clubs for most marques whilst membership of AWDC and similar drops. Why is this? Is it because "the regional club doesn't cater for my needs"? If so join it and help it to evolve - why not join GLASS or the AWDC and get in touch with the local rep? you benefit by being a member of a large club and they benefit with more members.
If the UK club 4x4 scene continues to fragment like this there will be no large groups to pursue our rights to use green lanes in the same manner as GLEAM and the Ramblers Association do.
There is strength in numbers!
