Hi,

Just got my new Def 90 back with mods and it now needs christening!

Any green lane trips or pay and play going on this weekend?

I am desperate to give it a run out.

Cheers

Nick

Hi,

I am based in Leatherhead- jct 9 M25

I have just purchased a 2003 LR 90 Def G4 with a few mods.. the idea is to do some overland / camping trips next year.

Just want to use the in the way it was intended and to also learn how to use it properly in light of where we might take it and any situations that might arise.

Done a few of the Surrey Green lanes but the council has seen to it that they are so dull and remove so much paintwork that you wont bother doing them.. Unless you know of any?

Where are you based?

Cheers

Nick

Hi mate, i like the pay n play sites, i am in heathrow area, we did a site called speen two weeks ago, with the burnham off roaders was good fun, the devils pit is a good day out, but a bit off a trek for you, theres 4x4 without a club too, thats a good site, we may be going to a place called woodlands 4x4 in about 3 weeks, meant to be good with mild to wild bitz, i have done a bit off green laning up towards box hill , always go as group and my mate does the leading, but will find out more, and let you know, were you interested in pay sites or the lanes?

Hi mate

I dont mind either to be honest.. I like the idea of exploring lanes with others, especially if they know them well and can choose some good ones.. The ones i have found were pretty dull and just ran branches down the car.. i think the council make it that way? :-)

Lanes can be good on a dull Sunday afternoon when there is nothing else to do before a nice roast dinner!

Let me know if/when you plan an outing and maybe we can hook up..

Cheers

Nick

I wouldn't mind tagging along with you if possible.

I have not been to Woodlands, but was thinking of trying it out in a couple of weeks.
I think there is a pay & play at Slindon safari this Sunday ( 4x4driving.co.uk or similar )( fontwell, near chichester ) but I am unable to make it.

Let me know when you are next going out.

Woodlands sounds like a great day out with the Shogun...Is it free? If not, how much are we looking at to have a play?

Plans are to only do a bit of light off-roading as I'm only just getting to grips with the thing hehe Went down a few lanes today just to have a bit of fun on a lazy sunday afternoon & come back caked in mud! thumbup So I'm hungry for a bit more!

Only downside is, I'm not planning to make any "enhancements" to it's 4x4'ing ability for a while yet. So it will be staying as stock for a while, which shouldn't be an issue from what I can see on the website biggrin

ETA - 20 quid for the day! biggrin

Good good! Sounds fine to me! Used to getting up early for PH hoons so it'll be a good 'un.

Fingers crossed I'm able to make it down.

i'm going to try and make this, sounds good. i'll also only be taking it easy as i've only got a stock freelander and am trying to sell it so don't want to smack it up too badly.

i've just been made redundant so no 4x4 frown but when everything picks back up i shall be looking for either a disco or defender. i like the freelander but it does leave me wanting something a bit bigger and more capable.

Sorry, I won't be there. It ran the big ends yesterday. No oil pressure and sounds like a man inside the engine trying to break out with a big hammer......

I am trying to finish an extension before Christmas, and Mrs Dunc will have a sense of humour failure if I take an engine apart now. Hopefully will see you in the new year.

Yes,
Its a standard 3.9 V8. The bearings are now all a rattling good fit.......

To be honest, I have not had a chance to look at it this week.
I am hoping the cause of the lack of pressure will be easy to solve (releive valve or oil pump drive?) and that I turned it off quick enough to avoid damaging the crank, so I can but some shells into it just by taking the sump off, and not take the engine out.

Anyway, its unlikely I will get a chance to have a look at it for a few weeks.
