right chaps just been given one of the above.has anyone tried one off road,or is it as useless as it looks.been toying with the idea of off roading for awhile, disco or range rover is the weapon of choice but this thing came up.(diesel/manual)

I don't know that much about them, but as far as I recall, they are very under powered, parts are very expensive, and a Disco or RRC will drive away from them off road.

My best mate has one - it's complete st. He bought it new to use as a support vehicle for his work as an agricultural contractor.

The mercedes engine is the worst thing about it - it's had the head gasket replaced at least 3 times. Frequent gearbox troubles. When it's going, it's actually not too bad.

my mates old mans shogun has blown a headgasket twice, and just recently it had a new engine after stting its last one. not bad for an 02 plate so it does happen to other cars, but id still have a shogun over a musso lol

Are they really worth so little that people are giving them away?
it came minus the engine and a few other bits,just waiting for the right engine to turn up and away we go

What sort of off roading??

In there day they did a quick Merc powered one, faster than anything LR produced.

As for off road, well it's AWD, so with the right tyres will be fine in fields and lanes. But they are big, don't have lockers and limited axle articulation and flex.

If you want a budget off roader an old classic RR, Disco or Series LR are easy affordable options, but if you really don't mind using the Ssanyong then why not give it a try. smile
