Daihatsu Rocky '88: good buy?

A mate has his eyes on a dead cheap 2.8 diesel. He's not into very heavy off roading but needs a 'in the mud' moment every now and then.

Should he consider a car like this?

I've got one and it's brilliant for off-roading. Same year, shortest wheelbase model, 2.8 Turbo-Diesel. Have some photo's somewhere which I'll try to upload.

He is indeed very happy with his car . . . Cheap and solid car.
