Hiya all,

my RRC has the usual holes in the rear wheel arches where the rear door strike bolt is located.

Is this an MOT failure or are these holes acceptable if patched up with P40?

I know the rear seat belt mounts are in this area so I imagine its a welder's nightmare.

Anyone with recent experience?

Andy

It will be a failure if within 30cm of any suspension mount, load bearing area or seat or seatbelt mount, sounds like my Disco arches which I had to patch up along with a new boot floor and I still have the sills to dofrown

some nefariuos souls have been know to take the rear seats out as well as the rear seat belts.

If they aren't fitted then they aren't tested!

It would still depend on how near any body mounts are though, wheather or not the belts are in place the mounts will still be there so you could be at the mercy of the tester on that one.

although to be honest Andy if you are going to be keeping the vehicle then get the job done before you end up having to scrap the vehicle. At the same time get the foot wells done as i can guarantee that if the rear arches need doing then the footwells will need doing as well! Any half decent LR specialist should be able to do the job no probs- its not a horrifically complicated weld and it is done ALOT so shouldn't represent any problems.

The sills are about the same but as I said in your other thread the boot was far worse with just the thickness of the carpet and sound dedening holding anything in the boot.

We'll if it fails I'll get rid of the body and get a Tomcat kit.
