Hi, posting on behalf of a friend who has lost his internet connection for a month. He has a Diahatsu Fourtrak that apparently has no drive to the front wheels. Even when low ratio 4wheel drive is selected.....nothing to the front wheels. If he locks the diffs, still no drive to the front axle. There appears to be a threaded hole on the front axle, and wondered if at some stage some-one has had the vehicle in bits, and left something off! Just wondered if anyone knew the answer??

Thanx for looking.

Delboy.

Has it got free-wheeling front hubs?

If so, turn them both to lock! smile

I've had several older fourtaks, and all of those had manual hubs.

The last one was a later effort from 90's wher they were automatic selection.
Isnrt there a vacuum pipe. On side of gearbox to the transfer box though?

My hilux has one, and when that was missed off during some work, it remained stubbornly 2WD only

Theres a 'breather pipe' poking up from (usually) top of axles, not sure what else on theire is threaded though TBH
a few mounting brackets here and there, threaded though?

manual hubs BTW look pretty much alike, this I think is a nissan part

the later Daihatsu' have a blanking plate coveing the twisty yellow bit in picture, as they do their job by themselves

this lot were helpful, a quick search reveals similar issues, with either vacuum pipe or solenoid problems most likely
