Got a few venues locally, and me and a mate have expressed an intrest about having a go, and sort of agreed with £300 each for a 4x4, and then add on anything else (life kit/tyres) after if needed

any suggestions of what to go for, both of us are in the motor trade, so MOT and work isnt an issue

cheers

For that money:
Range Rover Classic
Old Discovery
Little Suzuki
Toyota Hilux
Doubt you'll get a defender at that price but maybe a Series 3

Suzuki or Lada for cheap thrills. My investigations have suggested that they're cheap to upgrade too...

Old Jeep Cherokees seem to go for not much money these (no-one wants a 4.0L gas guzzler these days). I was watching this one on e-bay last week with half an idea as using as a pure fun offroader:

There's plenty about - but not all as cheap as that one!

OK... don't laugh, but one of my mates has a few landys parked in the drive but STILL swears by a modified Suzuki SJ410 for cheap thrills.

I tried it, I loved it...

I've just bought an SJ413. £720, and it's already fitted with winch, snorkel, SPOA suspension lift, various bits of under-body armour, armoured sills, rocksliders, heavy duty rear towing point, wheel spacers, mud tyres and a cherry bomb exhaust. Still road legal and tested.

There can't be many landrovers you could even look at for £720.
