Daihatsu Taft and SJ
Discussion
I have a house in france which is surrounded by fields and tracks and I wish to use this fact. A guy that used to have a mill down there left a Daihatsu Taft down there at another english persons holiday home. As far as I can remember it has a 2.5 litre n/a diesel engine in. What are these like ?? Im going to ask him if I can have it and use it. Good for parts spares etc ??
Another possible opportunity has come up nearby, there is an SJ in the local post office yard which hasnt moved for quite some time judging by the tyre pressures, state of windows and a 2ft deep drift of leaves on one side !! Im going to ask the local postie tomorrow to find out about it. If he doesnt know then I will leave a note at the office. Is it possible to transplant alot of engines in to these ?? Am currently going over various forums finding out but I like to stay faithful to PH's !!
Thanks in advance

Plenty of space in the SJ engine bay for bigger engines, but i don't think the gearbox bolts onto many other engines, and if it could, it would probably break something. Apparently people put Toyota Hilux running gear (and engines i assume) in them. If it's just to fart around in i wouldn't bother swapping engines. I got a one litre (four speed!) SJ a few weeks ago, and for what i've done so far off road it's powerful enough. Great fun little toy, mine's going across europe and west africa this summer!
