Hi all,

I have had a few road going 4x4's and taken them on the odd off road day.. but have been thinking recently of getting a quad or old 4x4 and doing some green laning etc.. Just wondered what there is around the leatherhead area in terms of lanes and possibly pay and play sites? Just want to get some fresh air on a gloomy Sunday and walking juist aint cutting it! :-)

Cheers

Nick

Hi Nick,

I'm in Epsom and have a Shogun LWB. I took Morebeanz on here, who lives in Guildford, to a pay and play day in Aldermaston and got him thoroughly hooked, so we're now plotting on getting something like a tricked out Suzuki SJ to throw at literally anything.

In terms of what we've got near us, there are lots of pay and play sites around 30-60 minutes away, which considering you're there for the whole day isn't too bad, plus there are a number of great green lanes in the Surrey Hills on both sides of the A25 between Guildford & Dorking, plus others on the Devil's Punchbowl, although I've not done those myself.

Drop me an email if you fancy finding a couple of hours over the weekend, and I'll show you some of it if you like. Nothing like an excuse! biggrin

the lane near the devil's punchbowl is NOT for standard cars you dont want to kill. the one im thinking of is called high button (cant remember if its named on maps). the north end goes through a blokes garden & then up, i took a rear side window out of a disco up there by leaning on a tree & due to the ruts there is no other route. until i had lockers it was a lane i couldnt get up without a winch in the wet as well. last time i went up there it was such a deep rut that my lifted disco had the gutters running in the 'wall' you drive past. this pic is what happens with the wrong line on the easy bit at the bottom.

We have Quad only days on a 100 acre site near Gatwick, great site with lots of trees and lots of water, we have about 10 Quads with riders that get involved , the land owner is very fussy on who goes, hats are worn at all times but we have great fun, cost is £15 per day, mind you we seem to pack up about 3ish, please drop me an e-mail and let me know what Quad you have and how long you have been riding. andys@ajstyres.co.uk

Take a look at my web site and look at the pictures, gives you a taster of what we get up to. www.ajstyres.co.uk
