2012 Land Cruiser damage - question
Discussion
2012 Land Cruiser 7 seater. 4cyl diesel.
Despite me using the car robustly I’ve never had any damage to the underside of the car until my wife ran it into a railway sleeper at a cafe she visited yesterday. There is some damage to the front underside.
I’m not sure what this structure is, if it need repairing or if I should be worried.
Does anyone have any advice?
Car drives ok, makes no new noises, there’s no obvious fluid leak from the underside so I’m inclined to leave it.
The car is going in for some underside anti-rust in the next 12 months after it was treated 2 years ago.

As others have said, just a skid plate and easily replaced.
As an aside, it never ceases to amaze me the way cars seem to rust in the UK! I guess its the type of salt used on your roads in winter that does it, such a difference to NZ where its rare to see rust on anything built after the mid 1980s.

Assuming thats a 150 series, the OE sump guard all rust away like that as they did on120 series, previous Landcruisers the sump guards were made somewhat better.
Many of us with 120 series have replaced ours with an aftermarket steel jobbie from these people.
https://www.sump-guard.co.uk/steel-sump-guard-for-...
Protects a lot more than the OE offering and cheaper than anything else out there, 2.5mm steel plate isn't the be all and end all of protection though they do have reinforcements.
The 120 series sump guard had a small removable bolt in flap for oil changes, the 150 series guard doesn't but in the description it says there's an opening for sump plug access but suggest double checking with them, they respond quickly to emails.
Made in Romania, usually arrives within a week.
Couple of tips.
Whilst they are indeed painted its worth slapping a coat or two of decent chassic paint on before fitting
If you go off-road a couple of the supplied fixing bolts might stand proud at the lowest points, some of us have replaced those with dome shaped stainless steel Allen bolts which are easily available from ebay and less likely to foul on something hard.
Suggest you start squirting Plus Gas at the present securing bolts in the meantime judging by the corrosion under there.
