Tyres! BFG or?
Discussion
Need a new set for my Suzuki SJ play truck. I’ve got some very old BFG muds fitted.
Should I go with the same again? They’d be Km3’s instead of KM’s…
Alternatively could go for some Maxxis 764’s?
Anything to choose between them? Looking for new as opposed to retreads as it’s used as a road vehicle between lanes and trials as well.

They are expensive but they do at least have a ridiculously long lifespan. The BFG ATs on our runaround Hilux have done ~70k miles and still have loads of tread left.
They work well as a good all rounder on a rural pickup and are pretty decent in snow but no real idea if they're the best option in this case though.

My club is based north lakes and I’m south lakes. Are the remoulds going to balance up at all? I really want to be running at 60-70mph on the way there and back.
Hence thinking about the more quality end of the market? It’ll sit nicely one handed at 65mph at the moment.
Do you reckon the Insa’s will do that?

My mate had a Jimny for his daily driver/play truck, hes tried all sorts of re-moulds over the years, Insa, Malatesta and another brand I cant remember which were copies of the Maxxis Trepador. Not once has he ever managed to get the remoulds to balance properly. Hence thinking about the more quality end of the market? It’ll sit nicely one handed at 65mph at the moment.

It all depends on your split of road vs offroad, but if youre doing long days on the road to and from lanes/sites then I'd definitely spend on the named brand tyres. FWIW my mate with the Jimny now has two sets of wheels, on days where its a play truck he puts the Trepador copies on, when its a daily driver hes got a set of complete road bias tyres.

OP, are you talking the north of the lake district in Cumbria? We are in north Cumbria and would be interested in that sort of club.Hence thinking about the more quality end of the market? It’ll sit nicely one handed at 65mph at the moment.
