Getting near to needing some new boots for the wifes GL, quite fancy some more off-road orientated tyres this time round but struggling to find any that would fit. Its got 275/55/19's on it at the moment and I don't think smaller wheels are an option as the front brakes are enormous.

Any ideas?

If you drop to a 255 width you have some choice in various profiles. Something should offer a similar diameter.

Else it really would be a rim change I think.

I would be up for changing the rims (Love a steel wheel me) but from brief model specific forum skimming the front brakes are so enormous you can't go lower on the wheel size which is a shame.

Had the front wheels off the other day to change front air struts and the brakes really are whoppers...

I am just want say that first of all Finding off-road tires for a 19-inch wheel can be a challenge, but there are a few options you can consider. One approach is to look for tires with a taller sidewall, which can improve off-road traction and provide a bit more ground clearance. You could try looking for a 275/60/19 size tire, which has a slightly taller sidewall than the current 275/55/19 tires on your wife's GL.

Alternatively, you may want to consider switching to a more traditional off-road tire size, such as a 17-inch or 18-inch wheel. This would open up more options for off-road tires, as there are many popular tire sizes available in those sizes.

Before making any decisions, it's important to make sure that any new tires or wheels you consider will be compatible with the mcdvoice brakes and suspension on your wife's GL. You may want to consult with a tire or wheel specialist to ensure that you are making a safe and appropriate choice for your vehicle
