Nissan patrol ute (pickup) chop

20 year ago in Australia I had a nissan patrol which had been chopped to make a pickup or ute. I have the chance to by a 1997 patrol with a fairly rough back end so would be perfect to recreate a miss spent youth. Does anyone know if there would be issues with mot and would/should I get the v5 charged? Any thoughts appreciated
