2010 transit awd system
Discussion
Not sure on your budget or indeed why you are set on a Transit....but if you have some flexibility and wanted to go a little off-piste (bom-tisch) with your search, I would recommend you go for something like a 2004-2009 Nissan Elgrand. Reasons below:
- 3.5 V6 Petrol & Auto box (Same 245bhp core lump as the 350Z, very smooth & relaxed mile munchers with plenty of power/torque for the mountains)
- Proper Japanese build & reliability
- Proper 4WD system (With switchable diff lock)
- Great Spec as standard (HIDs & Tri Zone Climate, Half Leather, Tinted Glass, Electric Windows and Sliding doors as standard)
- Additional Spec you commonly see (Adaptive headlamps, Heated Seats, BOSE audio, Full Leather, Electric rear curtains, drop down screens, dual sunroofs)
- Technically 8 seaters, but comfortable for 6 adults.
- Rear most and middle row seats fold flat into a double bed

I have a place in the Alps and keep a van out there for the winter.
You don't need AWD/4x4.
Put some decent Snow tyres on a FWD van and keep some snow chains in and you will get anywhere.
The road management is excellent in resorts as it is their livelihood, in 10 years I have never needed 4x4.

They certainly are a bit marmite..... But let's bare in mind we are comparing it to a vehicle which, well, has many connotations connected to it, none of which are half as bad as ugly Japanese MPV.... Gassing Station | Off Road | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
