I have just started doing a lot more motorway mileage and find the Ranger a very good vehicle for the task - I have the Hella bi-xenon headlight upgrade for excellent visibility and the high ride position makes travel easy and relaxing.

The only downside is the ride is a bit harsh. I know the raptor ride is ridiculously smooth on road, smoother than an S class! So I wanted to see if anyone can recommend some aftermarket shocks for the Ranger Wildtrack to get a better ride?

For the next 12 months I don’t mind losing pay load capacity and can go back to old ones if / when I need it again.

I would have a look and see if Old Man Emu do a light load options (springs and shocks). I.e loads less than 300kg. They have a suspension selector on their Aussie site which will give you part numbers. You can then find UK distributor, there are a few.

Always go off the OME part no.s as the web descriptions from UK sellers is notoriously rubbish.

Monroe used to do a Gas Magnum unit, for all manner of 4x4s, we sold shed loads of them when I worked for Monroes distributor. The advertising poster read “ Drive off road with on road comfort “
Monroe have re named it “ Adventure “ I fitted a set to my TD-5 Discovery, very pleased with them !

As above - OME or Bilstein.

I replaced Pro-comp on my Dad's 88" Land-Rover with some OME (standard ones inadequate with the reduced inter-leaf friction of the parabolic springs it has) - very pleased.

I replaced the usual ones on my 110" CSW with Bilstein (quality direct replacement) and again I am very impressed with the ride and control.

I was impressed with the improvement in comfort when I replaced some cheap no-name ones with KYB gas-a-just, especially at the price.
