Just a quick one.

Where do you find good info about off-road/green lane trails suitable for 4x4 in the UK (Yorkshire mainly but wider UK)?

I keep going back and forth on whether I should bring my FJ back to the UK when I transfer home. If it was just a spare vehicle then I probably couldn't justify it but if I could get out and actually use it properly then it might swing it.
I saw the Pyrenees thread and I would fancy doing something like that for a holiday or two at some point or Eastern Europe.

Gratuitous picture up a sand dune.

You can get an ordnance survey map to look for the lanes, then cross reference to your local council's online maps to see which are open and closed.

GLASS and All Terrain UK have their own maps showing all the legal lanes and whether they're open or closed.

You might enjoy it, but when I tried it I found green laning occasionally interesting, but most of all frustrating at how short the lanes usually are. I joined Glass but it was just full of negativity about conflicts with walkers, rider etc. How irresponsible 4x4s we’re ruining it for the responsible ones. All true, just no fun for me really.

If you are in Yorkshire, ardventures do guided laning trips to get you started (as well as further afield) and also sell green lane GPS routes to follow yourself.

The Green Lane association was established over 25 years ago and has a good network of area representatives.
