Having two spare wheels and tyres?

Hi, having recently had a puncture off road and planning to do some trips/green laning I’m considering getting an extra wheel and tyre (bringing a total of 6) to put on the roof rack.
I have 245 70 17 all terrains so not always a off the shelf size.
Thoughts?
Would likely make it top heavy and lean more.I have 245 70 17 all terrains so not always a off the shelf size.

One spare should be enough, plus one of those puncture kits with the rubber strings.
Unless you come across a booby trap. I've seen photos of some nasty stuff, though the worst I've come across is a perfectly straight line of broken glass running across the lane.
And what do you when you get to the main road?Unless you come across a booby trap. I've seen photos of some nasty stuff, though the worst I've come across is a perfectly straight line of broken glass running across the lane.
Because you can't legally use those string repairs on the public highway!

If you do do it, consider how you are going to lift the wheel up onto the roof. If there’s a few of you, probably manageable, but on your own could be a recipe for a hernia. You could consider a tyre only and treat yourself to a set of Tyrepliers which would be more hassle in the event you need them, but less weight to manhandle. Bear in mind the likelihood of actually needing a 2nd spare would be minuscule.
I carry 2 spares on my Defender when I’m away from home or when we did our Norway trip. My reasoning is it runs 265/75/16 MTs and my spare on the rear door means I can carry on as normal. I then have a normal Defender wheel on the bonnet (can’t remember the exact size) which means I can still see ahead nicely but will get me out of trouble.
Even though I have a ladder, am strong and don’t have to worry about paintwork etc, I’d never put one on the roof. In the wet and rain trying to wrestle a tyre onto the roof is begging for an accident imo.
If you have space in the boot just grab a cheap spare and pop it in there when greenlaning and take it out for the rest of the time. Also be aware you need the right kit to change a spare in the mud, a spreader plate, good jack etc.
Dave!
