Recently went to Iceland for a holiday, 8 days tour of the island, used the back roads as much as possible. Rented a Land Cruiser with slight mods:

Visited one of the glaciers, a bit chilly:

Some interesting roads:

A great trip, but very expensive.

Awesome. I have a week booked for December.

Do you mind sharing your itinerary and who you got the LC from? It'll be deep winter when I arrive so I've been looking at stock 4x4s but that looks much more appropriate cool

Hi Artoir, my god-daughter's sister works for a company doing Icelandic travel only. Had a bit of an advantage. She did the main itinerary but we did amend routes as we went along. The car was hired from Mycar.is, cost around £1200 for 8 days (plus the fuel). The glacier was the one north'ish of Geysir, we continued from Geysir and went onto the dirt road, then turned left for the glacier expedition place which is close to the glacier. Carried on past the end of the road about 1km to the glacier itself.
