Always liked these Dodge trucks, there is one parked near where I live. I do a lot of green laning and recently started thinking that a Dodge WC might be fun to do that with in drier weather.
Does anyone in here own one? What are they like off road? Is the performance like a big series Land-Rover?
The main problem I can see is width, I think they are 2100mm wide versus a Defender at 1800mm.

I love the Dodge WCs - I would look at a 51 over a 52 unless you really need the winch.
(If money was no option I think I would go for a 62 in 6x6)
As a Big Jeep they would be a hoot.
A friend had a 51 and another a Ford MB jeep (into the historical vehicles / re-enactment scene)
They were great vehicles but I am not sure how they would go as serious off-readers. I know that they were build for a purpose, but the age of the design and build as well as the engine and gearbox spec may leave you wanting more.
As I understand it, there is a busy spares scene and the canvases are all replaceable. DIY is realistic according to friends.

The 51 would be my choice, or a later M37. I'd also consider a Canadian Military Pattern truck too. I'm used to driving Series One Land-Rover so don't mind sedate, interesting progress. They were great vehicles but I am not sure how they would go as serious off-readers. The Dodge would probably be more at home on the wider green lanes of Wiltshire than our local Holloways.
