Hi all
After some advice on what make/model 4x4 I should be looking at.
Would be my day to day run around and backup family car. Would need to have auto transmissions and have a minimum of 7 seats. Would need to be a capable 4x4 as I live and work rurally and my Kuga let me down when doing anything not on tarmac or snowy conditions. Ideally something I could use for some decent green laneing and perhaps get involved in 4x4 response.
Budget is 6k
I have a few options in mind already-
Land cruiser Colorado- really like the look of these but the age and mileage on those in my price range is off putting.
Shogun-
Pathfinder- plenty of space even with all the seats up but does look a bit low and unsure of how capable it would be off-road.
Anybody have any experience of the above or recommend any alternatives.
Thanks

I'd go for a high mileage 80 or 100 series landcruiser with low owners and that has had regular maintennance, should just about get one in budget.
My 100 series has over 230k on the clock and is still entirely reliable and dependable. I wouldn't consider mileage a problem until over 300k. Check the diff lockers, they stick when not used regularly.
The 90 is a very different vehicle, a lot more car like, smaller, still well put together and decent enough off road but the 100 series are tremendous value in comparison.

While you can use many vehicles for green laning, most 7 seater ones are likely to be a bit big and cumbersome on the lanes. Some lanes in Lake District restrict to 100" wheelbase as the lanes are tight. After some advice on what make/model 4x4 I should be looking at.

Disco 3 is an obvious candidate, and just in budget. A 110 might be possible or Santana PS-10, but will be less comfy for passengers, but a better green lane type vehicle.
Isuzu Trooper/Bighorn/Vauxhall Monterey. (All the same car, just different badges)
Great reliable cars, probably not the most refined, although the Monterey's are a bit more upmarket. Great when it gets slippery, very capable off roader.
I'm now on my 3rd. Vauxhall Monterey 3.1(The super reliable engine that you can run on used cooking oil) 56000. 7 seats, leather interior. Simple to lift if you want to do serious off roading, or you can just put bigger tyres on it. Cost me less than £3000

I own a Landcruiser LC100 for 3 years now and have no complaints. Smooth ride and good handling on pavement. It has 18inch helo wheels with 265/65 BFG tyres. I do some light off-roading and I'm pleased with its performance.

What he said, Landcruisers especially the 80 and 100 series really are that good, I had a 120 series so the newer model Prado and that was great but the Amazons really are a cut above pretty much anything in terms of durability and reliability, I’d not be put off by a high mileage well maintained one.My 100 series has over 230k on the clock and is still entirely reliable and dependable. Personally wouldn’t touch a Disco 3 or Range Rover, yes they’re very capable and more modern than a Landcruiser but speaking from personal experience they break! and they’re expensive when they do.
Early Touaregs and Cayennes are good off road, Shoguns are a good shout too.

Jeeps are very good offroad, I have had three jeep grand cherokees, and cheep.
land crusers are very good too, but expensive.
I second that, you get a lot more for the same money with Jeeps in the UK. I have a 4.7 V8 grand Cherokee as a 4x4 toy and it gets stuck nowhere.land crusers are very good too, but expensive.
