Sadly I can’t see a market in the UK for it. Jeep UK have priced the new Wrangler at the same price as a Porsche Cayman/Boxster. So they will probably sell hardly any JL’s.

And there is simply no pickup market at all at this price point in the UK. And they can hardly pitch it at a sensible price and keep the JL so expensive.

I am seeing plenty of Merc pickups about, they are 40-50k Other pickups are around the £30-40 k mark to the decent spec ones.

They will sell, just depends on the numbers they want to sell to justify the effort.

Am considering changing my 2014 Wrangler Overland next year. This looks like an option

tbh, I haven't seen a single one on the road. Not even at the local Merc dealer (I have a smart, which the smart dealer shares the same site) Maybe they are very region specific.

i test drove a JL a month ago.... the show room was not full of people knocking the doors down. Frankly this is just silly money for a jeep. They are trying to go up market -- with price alone really.

Frankly they dont have the brand equity to do this and need to build the image before the price. Even in the US they are not doing the same thing.

Aslo disappointed the only Test drive available was the diesel when the hot point is the petrol engine.

that said nice vehicle but just not paying X5 money for a jeep

Regarding the MERC pickup, the only person i know who had one has just chopped it in for a V6 AMAROK after chopping in the four banger AMAROK for the Merc. The Merc is just a ch4v in a chanel top.

If it turns up in the UK they best look at the rear bed payload, max listed on the US site is sub 800kgs, no good if you want it through the company books as a dual purpose 4x4

I’m sure the JT will come to the Uk as there’s probably a decent market for RHD models in Australia.

Jeep has made a commitment to the US government to fulfil an order for 7000 JTs before they go on sale to the public and the factory is already flat out building around 20000 JLs per month so it might be a long wait - my guess would be 12-18 months before it reaches the UK.

In my local Jeep dealer this week, the sales chap said Jeep UK have confirmed the UK get Gladiators from 4th quarter 2020, he said we would get the 3l diesel & 2l turbo petrol, not the v6.

The 1000kg payload thing will be a deal breaker for me, hope they have sorted it.

They are not a huge success in the US.
