First off road car for fun

I’m looking at getting my first off roader for some weekend fun wanting to spend around 1500 give or take a little just not sure what route to go down I don’t like the little Suzuki’s to small need more go haha the fuel consumption won’t bother me as it wont be used daily I no my way around the basics of a car and the fella next is head mechanic Were he works so all good👌🏻 Any tips would be great

jeep grand cherokee petrol, could probably get a decent 4.7 v8 for less than 1500
