Bit of a random one but I have a 2016 Grand Cherokee. A nice car in itself and not exactly cheap. However, I know it is a very capable off roader in its own right and I'd like to have a little fun in it at some point - a bit like a Porsche owner wanting to try their new Turbo on track.
Are there any equivalent off road centres where I can try my car, ideally with a little instruction, in relative safety?
I don't mind getting her muddy but obviously wouldn't want to risk damage hence nothing too extreme.

Anything around Peterborough, Bedfordshire, Cambs would be ideal.

Look up Protrax, they do off road instruction. They market themselves mainly at LR folk, but I think any make is welcome on their events.

Check out a group on facebook called Yarwell off-road days, they are linked to Protrax and run the drive-around days. Of their sites, Yarwell is probably the less damaging, it's a larger site as well whereas Tixover can be very wet at this time of year. All types turn up from new Range Rovers to Unimogs and full challenge trucks, you just turn up and pay £25 on the gate to drive around.

Pay and Play days are what you want. As other poster says, £25 per vehicle is the norm and ideally you want someone to take you round the course first.

As you say, its a 2016 car, so not cheap and even with a pay and play site, I would still exercise caution. I once wen't to Devlls Pitt which is clay based and I spent a long time trying to clean my car out afterwards.

I've heard of ProTrax and the Yarwell site. Both have a good reputation and the Disco 3/4 FB group has been there and to be honest the site looked pretty tame, so you should be fine.

You will need to make sure you know where your recovery poiunts are front and back and they must be suitable for recovery. The towing eye is not really something to be used for being heaved out of a mud hole.

If you still want to go, invest in a 5 meter 12T rope from Ebay combined with either 4.75T or 6.5T shackles. Rope is ait nicer than a strop as it has give.

Thanks all. I'll investigate those a little more.
Just something to whet the appetite but without being too extreme smile
