Norfolk off-roading
Discussion
Hi,
Never posted in this section before, but searches have led me to a bit of a dead end. I'm looking to plan some off-road driving for a friend in his own defender as a day out in May. Other than the wild tracks centre near Newmarket, are there any other places in Norfolk where you can simply pay to turn up and do a bit of off road driving? Alternatively, can anyone recommend anywhere that you can pay to do off-roading in Norfolk/North-Norfolk? Also, someone mentioned greenlaning. Is this something to explore as an alternative or is it simply driving on farm tracks etc?
thanks

Have a look on here http://www.lroac.com/ - not quite Norfolk, but close enough. I have not been to any of the driving days at Yarwell or Tixover, but I am planning to. Lots of youtube vids to look at too, mostly fairly extreme stuff, but I believe there is some routes that are less extreme.
Used to be a place called Three holes near Outwell but they closed for some time, some said to let the site recover a bit. It was getting quite carved up. Great place with a bit of everything.
There was a Norfolk rhinos club some time back that used a site near dersingham I think it was.
As for Yarwell and Tixover both are great sites. Imho Tixover is quite small unless you have something very capable to play in the pit. It's a good site though with some harder sections.
Yarwell is huge, there's a lot of water and some of it is quite deep. Great sections all round, it does get very wet though as it's a clay soil area. It's currently under threat of being turned into a multi sports venue. Finely veiled as a mountain bike/4x4/mx venue but in essence just a mx venue with some token drive days etc.

Found this. Norwich 4x4 doesn't appear to be very active now.
There's some non challenging lanes round thetford if they're still open. Peddars way. Need someone to show you or some friends to join you using an OS map. Also contact the local rights of way officer to make sure no TROs are in place.
