They wouldn't. Sure it's huge and hideously in yer face, but it doesn't have a prestigious enough badge and its interior is probably way too utilitarian.

I'm glad it's not here, last thing we need is bigger vehicles on the roads.

Given that Mitsubishi are heading towards launching the new Shogun Sport here, I'd have thought it would make sense to compete....

I think if you had passengers in the back of that, and the driver and their passenger got out, it would tip backwards with it's front end high in the air!

Toyota has the Rav-4 and the Land Cruiser to compete with that.

It's not so much road space, the stereotypical German saloon drivers save lots of road space. Car parks are where it gets a little challenging!

Badge. They don't sell many Land cruisers and didn't sell many 4-runners last time they tried.

I'd rather they brought the FJ Cruiser here.

I reckon some of the Navaro crowd would buy that. Perhaps not enough. I like it as far those things go.

I think that's a fair question actually. Consider the demise of the Defender, the delay of it's replacement, the number of Freelander 2 owners who will walk away from the brand as they find the Discovery Sport is not for them, all showing that Land Rover are walking away from the dirty welly brigade in favour of the green welly lot.

And considering the success of Japanese products in the utility off road market why shouldn't JLR squeeze all they can out of the expensive end of the market.

So I reckon there's a market for it.

Buyers here don't want actual capability from their 4x4s, they want 'image' and 'prestige' which apparently comes from having a fashionable badge, 22" rims and a bloated blob shaped body festooned with LEDs. This is rather lacking in all those things.

Navaro?
Defender?
Freelander?
Discovery Sport?

I don’t think any of these are in the same class as the 4-Runner. The 4-Runner is probably for oil states and Australia. We don’t really have anything like the 4-Runner here.

The 4-Runner is primarily designed for and sold in the USA.

Exactly a more capable utilitarian 4x4 in the defender 110 mold and I like the look of it ( small dick obviously )

Yes it's primarily sold in the us but I don't see why that would preclude it from selling here. Is it really that much bigger that a shogun or ranger etc.

As a sweeping generalisation, yes. The 'SUV' market is huge but the market for actual off-road capable passenger vehicles is very small.

Surely "oil states" are states that rely on oil production as there main means of income? Otherwise the UK is an oil state.

Perhaps because there is little choice there is the wrangler and ?

How many shogun buyers would buy something a little more capable?
