I'm planning on changing the coolant in my 2004 2.7crd soon.

So I've read I need to use this HOAT type anti freeze (very expensive from dealers, cheaper elsewhere ?) but Im also reading you dilute it with DI water, not tap water. Is that correct ?

Cheers

Hi mate,

I've been using this:

Not sure what you mean by DI (distilled?), but yes as you should to prevent scaling.

Yep, that's the stuff I bought. Just did the job yesterday.

Had to drop the front bash plate to expose the lower radiator hose. Then drain/fill, drive and flush 5 times to completely remove the old antifreeze.
Did a 50% mix with distilled water (we call it DI water at work) and now I'm good for 5 years I hope !

Late to the party, but QX3 purple antifreeze is HOAT, and much cheaper - Euro Car Parts do it.

DI means deionised. It's a means of removing salts without distilling. The outcome is the same.

If you don't live in a very hard water area then you can boil the water in a kettle then let it cool to knock out any scale.
