I picked up a nice 2000 plate WJ 4.0 Ltd at the weekend for not a lot of money smile. I've owned 2 before (97 4.0 Ltd & 4.0 98 Orvis. The steering on the 2000 is streets ahead of the other 2 without any vague wallowing and the impression that the steering wheel is not actually connected to the wheels smile. She has FSH until 10K ago (currently on 93K) so I'm planning on an engine oil & filter change but can't see anything in the history about transmission or diff oil changes so will need to look at this.

Good trucks, mine is up to 250k miles & runs fine still. Being broken as the offroady bits under it are worth alot more than the Jeep itself. Now have a v8 one :-)

What can you get a half decent WJ for these days ?
I did look at adverts for Wranglers a few weeks ago (day dreaming....) and they've gone up in price !

WJs start at around 1200 and go from there. At 93k all the fluids need changing.

I absolutely loved mine, (a 4.7 V8) I owned it for longer (5 years) than I have ever owned another car, and would still own it now but for a change of jobs meaning 80 miles a day.... that was a little pricy on the fuel for me so sadly it went.

Would have another like a shot if circumstances allowed.

My wife loved hers, it was almost the last WJ CRD with the Merc 2.7 5 pot. Needed reliability for a lot of miles now (about 36K between us) so we have a pair of Renegades, hers is a Trailhawk, I have a 2.0CRD auto Limited. Thinking about a WJ 4.7 for weekend fun.....

I've got a 2000 WJ 4.0 on LPG.

It was cheap, and I love it.

I've covered about 40,000 miles in it over the last 18 months, most of the time towing a trailer!
