Pajero suspension jars and bangs through the vehicle
Discussion
Hi All,
The front suspension on my somewhat leggy 2002 SWB Pajero really does jar and bang over bumps/cats-eyes. Speed bumps are fine, if a little pitchy.
Smooth bumps are just fine its the sharp edged bumps, holes etc that seem to bang through the car. I haven't entirely ruled out a certain amount of play from the dashboard itself, however I would like to concentrate on the suspension first
I know for sure the front shocks are very tired indeed, front end bobs over expansion joins and a turkey esk gaggles is emitted from the front end at low speed.
Having done a visual inspection, I see nothing alarming. Any advice or opinions much appreciated!

It may be just a case of they all do it - ladder chassis etc.
OR was it previously ok ?
Only reason I say is that my 2005 lwb crashes over small stuff and I've not got the bottom of it. Not started swapping springs and dampers yet.
One of the bangs / crashes I had I though was suspension related turned out to be the front metal guard been loose !

We have not had ot that long but it was definitely a tad smoother on the unchecked tyre pressures of 20pse before, now set to 30 and some bumps really thump through the car.
Should I resolve the issue I will be sure to let you know
The more I heard the noise the more I was convinced it was the dashboard area and with a little further investigation I decided to dis mantle the lower console
This is what 13 years living in a sand pit does to it.
I didn't take a photo but cleaned it all up and stuffed tissue between contact points and reassembled tightly, touch wood but 90% of the jarring noise has gone!
Edit to add, that was half way through cleaning, this is what is first looked like:
