Right, A friend of mine and I have got a crash damaged Mk3 Mr2 and want to make a monster.
The car is obviously mid engined with a 1.8 vvti engine and 5 speed gearbox. It smashed a rock at about 30 mph, damaging the rear driverside suspension a little bit and a bit of chassis splitting. but all looks repairable.

Plan is to strip the car of everything unnecessary (any body panels, roof, windscreen, doors etc). Also repair the damage, but as i said it all looks repairable, its only going to be driven offroad on private land anyway.

Next install some longer softer springs and weld in door bars, roll cage and some kind of bumpers. Needs seats but i have 2 mk1 mx5 seats we could use.

This way we can use all of the cars steering, suspension, engine, etc without having to make a whole new chassis.

Have some gorse filled fields that we can clear and make a racetrack, which is awesome, I am pretty excited about the project and thought you guys might be interested. Also when we come across issues we can pick your brains. I hope to post some pictures soon and get the project started. smile

You'll probably not want any longer softer springs, by the time you rip all the crap and panels off you'll probably find you don't have enough droop as it is.

Buy a RAV4 .. transplant engine .. strip off body parts.
Pretty much the same thing mechanically but with big wheels, long suspension travel etc.
If you want a RWD rail thing.. then you need suspension travel ..
