My 4.0 1999 GC has a flat battery so I tried jumping it this morning. This set the hazards & alarm off but there was no life in the dash electrics etc and there was no response to turning the key. Does anyone know the problem and solution please?

Thanks

Are you sure you had a good connection on the jump leads. Doesn't sound like it was getting enough electricity through for starters.

If there was a good enough connection - immobiliser?

Yeah, connection was fine. Could be the immobiliser - how do I get around that?

is the battery 100% flat ?

if so then you may not be able to jump it

In the past when in situations like that I have disconnected the poss side of the battery.

then connected neg side of battery to jumper car
then connected poss side of jumper car direct to the poss lead that I had just disconnected from the battery and the car fired up.

not saying it will work and not cause issues etc but it worked for me

sounds like battery, they need a bloody good battery on them.

Is yours a ZJ or WJ?

Thanks chaps. I've replaced the battery and it's going again.

It's the WJ and is 4.7 not 4.0.

Next issue is no air is circulating through the heating system - any ideas?!

As simple as lock it and unlock it, usually.

I get lots of help over there too.

Search Jeep WJ blend doors on E-bay. You'll find the repair kits there. They seem to have come down in price as well, I paid near a £100 2 years ago.
