Which is better; 2004 Cherokee Sport or Pajero/Shogun?
Discussion
Hi
I am in Kuwait, so fuel costs are not an issue.
We want to purchase a largish 4x4, I have narrowed the search to the above, circa 2002-2004 Cherokee sport and Mitsubishi Pajero (Shogun) ideally the SWB but not many for sale and a circa 2005 Explorer because they are cheap and plentiful.
The 4x4s purpose will be to perch us high on the road, able to brush off knocks and rough roads, occasional excursions into the desert (light use)
Question is, what do I choose? I would just buy a Prado/Landcruiser but the budget won't stretch.
I have never owned a large 4x4 before and not driven the 3 of them yet, I have been told by a friend that a Pajero/Shogun is unstable and unreliable but it terms of overall package, its probably my favourite.
Opinions please!

Pajero / Shogun unstable, not heard that one before
Though of that age if its one of the electronic traction control models (which cuts the power), it may be a bit rubbish in the sand. You have to either turn the traction control off or better still pull the fuse to the ABS.
No experience of the Cherokee though.
