Now then.

Are there any off-roaders in the North Yorkshire area?
I have a Disco 300td, and I feel the urge to learn a bit more about it's off road potential!
I saw the Yorkshire off road club have an RTV event on the 16th of November but the website starts talking about being a club member to attend, and scrutineering etc. So that out me off a little.
There's nothing wrong with my car, and I've just serviced it today, but don't know what the scrutineering entails.
Anyway, I digress, anyone fancy showing me what to do!?

Thanks, Stuart.

I am a beginner to greenlaning so I have just joined GLASS, and the North Yorkshire section seems friendly and pretty active, with monthly meetings and several runs arranged and they seem very welcoming to beginners.
You do have to pay to join of course but after all they are the organisation that campaigns to keep green lanes open so they are worth supporting.

I'm with Hull4x4 membership is free, just sign up on the forum.

You might think Hull is a long way, but we actually have a good few member in and around Scarborough, Whitby, Bridlington, Malton & Pickering.

We usually have a club stand at the Land Rover Spring Adventure, at Riply this year, Harrogate & Driffield in the past.

There are some good Green lanes in North Yorks, but exercise extreme caution North Yorks Police are extremly hostile to 4x4's on green lanes, and very ignorant on rights of way, will take no action illegally obstructed lanes and support the farmer making the illegal obstructions. So I would agree about joining GLASS and attending their socials if green lanes is your scene.

North Yorkire Offroad is good (but small) site at Robinhood Bay

Thanks for the advice.

Scam, Green lanes are public highways they have no grounds to charge people.

There are plenty of clubs that charge nothing for green lane trips.

That's a bit harsh. They are providing a guiding and instruction service on a commercial basis, just as people do for mountaineering and mountain biking. I don't see that they are charging you to go onto the lanes any more than a mountain guide is charging you to walk on the hills.
Sure, if you have a mate and they take you along that's great but not everyone has. I've already suggested that the OP join GLASS.
