I have an Isuzu D Max and I guess I really am trying to use it for too many different purposes. It is an excellent tow vehicle, does everything I want offroad BUT I want to transport my Motorbikes with it and the tailgate is just too high for me to get them in safely. What I am thinking of doing is fitting an aftermarket air suspension system so I can raise and lower the suspension as and when required.
My question is has anybody done anything similar and has any advise. TIA

Is the Dmax leaf spring or coils at back ? Might limit the choice.
I guess you have rejected the idea of using a folding ramp ?

It's leaf springs on the back, if I had a folding ramp it would have to be wide enough for me to walk up as well, it is that high. It would also have to be extra long otherwise it would be too steep and also the bike would bottom out at the top of the ramp.(believe me I have been there done that. LOL)

I've only ever helped out with a air suspension conversion on a golf to lower it to give that slammed look when stationary. Personally think its looks rubbish bit each to their own.

I think it was an RideTech system brought over from American system I think, and they do leaf spring conversions as well.

Probably a load more that work on the same principle. Does not look that complicated really

I'd have thought some form of tail lift would be easier, possibly cheaper and more transferable to your next vehicle.

Ramp, long enough so bikes dont bottom out and ride the bikes up. Try not use too much gas though, dont want to be jumping the truck!
