Dampers on a 4x4

Is there a rule of thumb to say when you should get new dampers ?
The perfromance must deteriote over time, but they can still pass an MOT etc.
My GC is 10 years old with 75K on the clock. I was just wondering if Id notice an improvement with new Bilstiens ?
Maybe Im just trying to convince myself I need them, petrolhead syndrome !!

Just make sure they have a fitting kit for a WJ. Top mounts are offset & eat bushes & knock/squeak if not spaced out correctly
