Hi moderators,

As an area rep for GLASS (Green Lane Association – www.glass-uk.org) I spend a lot of time responding to posts on forums such as yours on topics concerned with green laning, either directly or peripherally.

As an improvement, could I suggest splitting the 'off-road' section into two separate ones: 'off roading' and 'green laning'? It would make it more logical and make a distinct difference to driving 'off road' as opposed to 'off tarmac'. Green laning is under threat from dwindling numbers of routes and increasing numbers of users, many of whom are in need (whether concsious or not) of education, and I believe this change will help.

It would also be appreciated if each subsection could have a sticky explaining the difference between "off roading" and "green laning" (of which I would be willing to supply the appropriate descriptions if required).

Happy New Year and thank you for all the work you put in behind the scenes.

Good luck explaining the difference between the two, to the ever increasing mouthbreathing element that's now invading the 4x4 scene. It's the reason I've walked away from it.

Thank you!

It is a long shot but education may help.

Why didn't you drive away from it?

Tbh I don't think there'd be enough traffic for a dedicated green lane forum. We tend only to expand when there's a demonstrable need. I know the Haymarket lot are embroiled in a slight classifieds disaster at the moment so I'd leave it a few days and email Paul Garlick but I'm fairly sure he'll repeat what I've said.

What I can do is sticky a Greenlane thread in this forum if you want to start one.

Hello Bill,
thank you for the input, happy to prepare a sticky - I'll get on it now so it is there as a backup.

I think rather than a green lane discussion page (which I can see has been created) a quick FAQ of off roading explaining the types, dos and don'ts might be good. A brief description of off roading on private land, green laning or driving unsurfaced roads, p&p days and competitions (trials etc) could be good.

Letting his true colour slip perhaps.

Presumable this is the sort of thing that annoys him.

Please could you tell me whereabouts the green lane discussion page is? I've had a quick hunt on here and can't find it.
