I'm going to give my 99 JGC some TLC before the winter starts to set in. Can anybody advise on the correct diff oil as reading on the net doesnt make things clear?

Thanks

I did both mine a few months ago. If in doubt talk to the guy from jeeps4play web site. He seems to know his stuff.
I did some research and depending on what diff you have you need the correct fluid, so do double check. There's no drain plug, and using a pipe so suck it out isn't really a quality job. You need to drop the diff covers, drain the oil, clear out the left overs with a rag and check the oil for any metal bits. That will tell you the condition of your gears, plus you can have a good visual. Clean up the face's of the cover and diff and use Loctite Black sealant. I let mine cure over night, they say 30 mins or so, but the longer the better.
I bought my oil from e-bay, Castrol Syntrax SAE 75W140 Synthetic SAFXJ Gear Oil fully synth delivered for a good price. Measure in the correct amount, add friction modifier from your Jeep dealer, put back the plug and away you go !!

I have LSD's in mine, so used fully synth in both designed for LSD's. Now it didnt say on the bottle, so may or may not have the correct modifier added to jeep specs.
Rule of thumb from some guy's on the USA web sites was to add half the jeep recommended amount and see how it goes. I did that and mine seem fine, no binding on tight turning circle. Google it and read for yourself.

Can't think of anything else at the moment??? You may have/want to drop one of the ARB's to give better access to the diff bolts.

Simples :-)
