Hi , i've been thinking of getting an isuzu trooper as a 3rd car , and noticed the vauxhall monterey too which is basically a rebadged isuzu trooper ,now my question is is the monterey an EXACT copy of the trooper or are there certain differences between them? it's the 3.1 diesel i'm looking at. If they are exactly the same thing except for the badge then i think the vauxhall would make more sense as they seem fairly cheap and less to insure too.
Thanks

As far as I know they are the same.

i thought they were too but not 100% sure they were absolutely identical . If they are then the vauxhall may be a better bet as the trooper is a tough old truck, so may as well get one with a vauxhall badge that is cheaper to buy + insure.

All I know is that they were rebadged all over, be it Holden, Honda, etc. they did the same thing with the Rodeo, (the Frontera). It was rebadged as a Honda Passport, and they retained the same engines, (even had the same Isuzu badging on the engine). It has been some time since I was in Isuzu circles, but AFAIK, they were the same. Trim levels might change, but the car itself should have the same transmission as the equivalent Isuzu, and vice versa.

They are the exact same truck, the only difference is the gay halls tended to have a higher level of trim, most had full electric leather. The 3.2 petrol v6 is worth looking at as well, as long as you drive sensibly it won't be far off the 3.1 for economy and when towing it actually does more to the gallon than the diesel! Oh and it's also got just under 200bhp.

Ah brilliant! Are the 3.2's reliable? Maybe an LPG version could be an option, be a little cheaper to run.
