Bit of off-roading, and a bit of camping.
Discussion
So we went overnight camping on Tuesday. The plan was to go over a hill we hadn't 'explored' previously. There looked like a trail went over there, but the trails change that much, it was hard to tell. The hill is pretty impressive from the side we were on. The whole thing is pure forest, with logging trails interspersed within. These trails will normally have ruts that are pretty deep, so hopefully they won't have been used much, or they will be 'repaired' by the winter rain, etc.
The hill we are crossing is directly ahead... No idea if we will be able to get over to the lake, but might as well give it a shot. (Sorry about the screenshots, we never really took pics until we got to the other side)
Some nice rocky roads to play on.
The trails were pretty good. Not too muddy, and nowhere near the ruts we thought there would be. The trails were not bad at all, even if they were pretty steep most of the time, (and most of the time you'd have a bit of a drop off to one side)
We recently had a storm with winds almost in triple figures, so a lot of trees, and debsris across some of the trails. Some we could move, others we just had to bypass.
Si's radio was playing up.
The other side of the hill was much more open.
An Oddity... A field... Middle of nowhere. Not a soul in sight, and a little white car with racing stripes in the middle of a field. Odd.
The Camp site just a few meters from the lake.
We also found some fossils on the lake bed by the shore.
See if you can spot the PH smiley...
Also have a bit of a long video. 35 minute jobby.

Nice post again dude, as always!
Love the fossil. Nice to find and appreciate small details like this whilst off-roading in cars I think. Sometimes people forget to appreciate the scenery and surroundings whilst driving away from roads, concentrating on the vehicle and their skills only.
When I tackle lanes and countryside, I like to stop quite a bit, shut down the engines and appreciate the surroundings my Jeep has allowed me to access.

Cheers Ray. Yup, always nice to stop and have a nose about at what you are driving through, and where you are. We are going back Tuesday-Wednesday with a friend who has never offloaded at all in his Pajero. Looking forward to it. Love the fossil. Nice video. Looks like fun.
What were the ground formations in the last two photos? Were they man-made?
No, they were the same bedrock type stuff as in the lake, (layered like slate, but a bit sandstone-ish), and at the top of the hill it sort of exposes it so it is in layers wit blobs of earth between the exposed bit. It was a lot steeper than it looks in the photos. What were the ground formations in the last two photos? Were they man-made?
I've just got back from the same area, (we camped overnight again last night but my friend chickened out so it was just myself and bro).

ahh, I did think it was somewhere like that, judging by the place names on the map you put up. Do you live out there or something?
Yup. K50 DEL said:
Hmm.... Google maps makes it about 1700 miles from my door to your neck of the woods.... might be a bit of a long way to come for some decent offroading / camping - looks like you have a great environment for it though!!
A bit of a trek, yes! Had to redo the vid. For some reason it was acting up.
A vid as well...
