This is possibly the worst implementation of motorsport I've ever seen:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CfJkINC_fo&fea...

Firstly, they redneck drivers dont have the first clue about driving off road. Keeping your foot in even when youre pointing at 90 degrees to the hill or the front is rearing up in the air is guaranteed to end in a roll. But no, "keep the gas on billybob, itll be fine! hyuk!".
This would be just about toelrable if it wasnt for the fact that none of them are wearing helmets!!! Yes, my truck is bouncing down the hill upside down but i'll just let my head smash into this rollcage..... even worse is the total darwin candiate in the atv buggy wearing only a seatbelt instead of a harness, to top off his lack of helmet!

Glad to see they are doing such a sterling job for the public perception of off roading

Compare those to the Icelandic nutters in their quarry machines, the redneck ones in your OP seem extremely unstable - top heavy even. They seem to roll at the slightest hint of a hill.

Looks great fun. I'd far rather watch that than a Landrover crawling up something "correctly" driven by someone with a beard so big it's almost achieved sentience.

Just a bit of harmless fun to keep the idiots amused! Better watching that than shagging their sister.................

(i also quite like the fact that the most capable vehicle their was the smallest, quietest and the one driven without too much foot flat to the boards "skill")

Lets face it, they could just point those buggies at the hill, put a brick on the accelerator, click 'em into drive and let 'em go without any driver and the effect would be much the same ;-)

Agree entirely, Max. The little quad looking thing looked to be the most fun out there. To my eyes it seems to be less about technique, and more about flooring it and hoping you bounce up the hill. I'm sure it is a hoot driving them, and each to their own, but seems like it is more about rolling them, than getting anywhere!

Thanks for that Mat777, enjoyed it.

Tell you what, you can be the one standing hands on hips, shaking your head in disdain at people having a bit of fun.

I'll be the one clapping and laughing at these guys antics and at times I might even be impressed.

You should have a google for one of them "winding the neck in a bit" devices but do please keep posting such links.

biggrin

Oh yeah...

Have you seen the stuff they do manage to get up though when they get it right. Very impressive. And I have to say far more spectacular to watch than a wheezy Jimy / Landy with locked diffs and a 2" lift.

You also need to consider that the US doesn't have the Access Rights issues that the UK has.

That was called Sarcasm. Because videos like this allow the green numpties to paint us otherwise responsible off roaders as redneck idiots intent on causing as much ecological destruction to their mother earth as possible, and not caring one jot

Yes, but Icelandics manage to do far more impressive stuff without looking like inbred morons. They are far more controlled, lift off when it all goes tits up and they wear helmets! Oh, and they also dont park several trucks and a huge crowd of people right in the path one of the vehicles will take when it falls back down the mountain. And they do it on a barren hillside instead of ripping up a forest.
All of the above add up to greatly alter the image they give off from hicks to responsible adults

Their money, their time and their own safety.

If its on private land and there not hurting anyone then in the grand scheme of things, where's the harm ?

Its nothing I want to do, but I dont want the PC brigade telling me that motorcycles should be banned because there dangerous.

Live and let live.

I thought it was pretty darn cool myself smile

I guess that the whole point of building a roll cage that looks like something from MadMax, in the first place is to make sure that when (not if) you roll it, you are gonna keep safe inside.

I believe the new age term is pushing the boundaries....

Looks great fun. Ok, less finesse than some off-road forms but I don't see the need to slate them just because they do it differently. Says more about us than it does about them, I feel.

To be fair to them, spending 11 minutes reading your threads and posts will show more evidence of retardation than watching that 11 minute clip.

Plus that's only crashes, clips that aren't just crashes are damn impressive IMO,
