Hi,

I am after a set of off road tyres for my 1994 Discovery Tdi after getting it stuck in a muddy field yesterday, I saw these on ebay and was unsure if they would fit. The seller has a "will it fit" thing on the auction that claims they won't, however 2 of the wheels are the same design as the set I currently have fitted with the same amount of studs.
I was under the impression that all discovery wheels were interchangeable right up to the Disco 3?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Disco 1 differs from Disco 2 and onwards, so they will not fit. I believe adapters are available..

Thanks for the reply, I am unsure if mine is a 1 or 2, any ideas how I would tell the difference?

TD5 on the back dictates its a Disco 2. Disco ones have tdi on the back. D2s also have the rarea lights much further up at the back where as they are all low down on the D1s

Sounds like you bought this a bit blind. Best of luck!

Those will fit your TDi but not a TD5.

Yours is a Disco 1, those wheels are from a Disco 1....

Ebay's compatibility chart incorrectly lists the face lifted Disco 1 as a MK2....

Yours is a TDi and was built in 1994....

The "Series II" was the TD5, and built from 1998onwards...

Disco 2 was introduced around 97/98 so yours is a Disco 1. Sorry I didn't look at the eBay listing, I just answered your question. As has been said, those wheels should/will fit your vehicle.
However, a word of warning about checking the age of the tyres. I bought a Disco 1 V8 last year that had done 20,000 miles in the last ten years at a PHer's holiday home in the Lake District. Having sorted most things out on the vehicle, I checked the age of the tyres. All of them are 2001 or older; there is a date mark such as 0301 (March 2001) embossed into an oval on one side of the tyre.
Although the tyres look serviceable with no cracks in the sidewalls, I am sure that they are past their best and am going to change them.
Just food for thought.

It says tdi on the log book and it is a 1994 and is a lot slower than my dads TD5 so must be a D1, I only use it on Sundays so bought it on condition rather than spec, and it was cheap and better on fuel than my petrol!

Good point, but I am going to do so few miles in and it is sooooo slow I just trundle along in it.
I am more worried about getting stuck again as the tyres I currently have on it are road tyres so will put these back on in the summer.

erm I seriously struggle to understand how you don't even know what you own and what you paid for?

All tyres changed yesterday; the oldest dated back to 1998!
