Its a sad day if they manage to pull this off frown

http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/looking-after/consu...

As always it seems a dumb minority spoiling it for the responsible majority..

The bobble hat brigade will be unbearable if this goes through i think its only a matter on months before we can kiss good bye to laning in the Peaks altogether frown

Was just about to post the same after reading on Difflock.

I'll add the extra from there.

"The Peak District National Park want to ban all recreational vehicular users and are proposing to do this by a series of TRO (Traffic Regulation Orders), even though we have been in discussions with them.

The first two are probably the most iconic lanes in the the Park – Roych Clough and Stanage Edge.

Documents can be found here:
http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/looking-after/co......

It's now just a numbers game and we need you to write/email PDNP and oppose the TROs. One or two sentences will do!

If it's not obvious, you need to email:

long.causeway@peakdistrict.gov.uk

and

roych@peakdistrict.gov.uk

ASK FOR CONFIRMATION OF RECEIPT OF EMAIL

If you need help, please ask.

IT'S POTENTIALLY THE END OF LANING IN THE PEAK DISTRICT...

Please write now."

I've sent off a couple of 2 line emails to try to help here, and posted on another forum (LRO).

I'm afraid some of the 4x4's dont help themselves.
ok I can understand needing 3-4 in a group incase one of them gets stuck but groups like we see round here of upto 15 in slow moving convoy when its muddy churning up the ground do nothing to help the cause.

Also stick to the permitted route ,look at how 4x4's completely destroyed that little section on houndkirk ,barriers were placed at either end but they were just driven through, the tracks were axle deep.

If you go and read the community forums for offroaders, they are as pissed as anyone else is when people act like pricks on TRO's. As usual it is the idiots that ruin it for the rest.

Well, closing more and more will do very little to help. There is enough countryside in the UK to allow people to enjoy trails, etc.

they should do like they do in the IOM, close some routes different times of year, or weight limits at certain times.
Ok it would take some policing but sure the bobble hats would love to do that !

The bobble hats don't seem to be happy unless it is just themselves with access.

Bit behind the times with this thread.
I used to green lane a lot in the peaks a few year ago.Losing the lanes in the peaks has always been on the cards,it's just such an unpopular activity with everyone else that uses areas that greenlaning takes place.

As already mentioned people only see the damage of off piste users and all round idiots and the larger groups in convoy. As responsible users like it or not you will be stereo typically bundled in with that lot.

It's because of the damage of other users and the all round anti social feel that green laning started getting which eventually had me deciding to give it up.
It's a shame because green laning can be a fun activity, but once again the minority fk it up for the majority.

The daft thing is, the 'illegal' users may well carry on using closed routes even if they've been. Closed, they have no respect from the law, and other users now, so why would a closure stop them, however, a closure will potentially only stop the responsible ones amongst us using the lanes.

If no legal options remain, the authorities can fully expect an increased mount of illegal off-loading. - It's the same as kids skateboarding etc. If they close the skateparks, why are they surprised when skaters cause havoc in town centres?

If green laning is legally allowed and the appropriate controls are in place, everyone can enjoy the countryside. - Not just moaning ramblers.

I do think it is a bit ridiculous in this age of artificial countryside, that a few muddy trails are being closed. It makes no sense.

I know the bobble hats do not like the vehicles because these are the routes where they can walk 10 wide. If you could discriminate between vehicles would they say that the motorbikes are more of a nuisance? They drive far faster than a 4 x 4 and also have full face masks making them potentially intimidating.

Does anyone know of the thoughts of the bobble hat brigade on the state of the Lake district where there are signs of human toilet paper and associated accompaniments spread around the place? Would they consider a ban to rid the locations of the undesirables or would they say it is a problem and we deal with it?

Well a permanent TRO has been placed on The Roych http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/looking-after/vehic...

Shame really!

On the plus side the Long Causeway committee doesn’t have a date yet!
