What's out there? My Dad's mate has got a Mitsubishi 4x4 thing with a single bed and a stove in.. Not quite sure what it is but It's a smart little motor, winch, roof rack etc and he plans on driving it to Russia!

I know people use 110 Defenders with an airbed in the back.
Just interested to see if anybody does any kind of travelling in their 4x4 and if so what kind of set up they use. Pictures would be great!

My neighbour has a Mitsubishi Delica which I believe is a Pajero underneath. I have no idea what it's like but he uses it for weekends away with his sons and seems to get on pretty well with it..... It looks quite cool in an odd kind of way....

After searching 'Delica' that's what he has! Smart ol' thing, mud tyres, roofrack etc.. He loves it and reckons it's pretty capable offroad!

Saw a white Unimog camper thing driving towards Sofia on Sunday. Nice looking thing.

You could go anywhere with those two, If there wasn't room to fit through you'd just make room...
There's some real smart motors out there, the skys the limit when you've got the money I suppose!

Sadly, the newer U3/4/500 series Unimogs aren't that reliable. I certainly wouldn't want to be out in the boonies when a dirty sensor puts it into limp home mode until you next visit a main dealer !!

They did the normal Syncro and the 16", with bigger wheels and I think locking diffs, but don't quote me on that.

I had a T4 Syncro (ex-Transco works van) that I converted to a camper, it had a viscous centre diff and a rear locker.

I've just bought an Isuzu Trooper LWB for use as a photography truck (I'm a landscape photographer in my spare time), with the rear seats (it is 5 seat rather than 7) folded forward I reckon I'll be able to sleep lied straight.

I've got a 12 day trip around the highlands planned for November, so have bought it for this.

Plans include winter tyres, extra lighting (both upgraded headlights and some long range driving lamps), a CB, extra powerpoints (probably an installed inverter) for charging camera batteries, phones etc.

Trying to stop myself going overboard, fitting a winch, rooftop tent etc and making it a full expedition vehicle.

Sounds like a plan. I've only just agreed to buy it, it belonged to my MOT tester as his own personal truck so I know its provenance. He's fitted a new head, new injectors, fuel lines, all sorts. A couple of bits to finish, then I can have it.
