It looks as though my Grand Cherokee needs an engine rebuild - think the head gasket's given up.

My usual mechanic isn't really tooled up for such a big job.

Any recommendations in the South West-ish area?

why a full rebuild? Did it overheat? I take it it is a 4.7

My friend Jim in Eastleigh, Hampshire if that's close enough?

He spannered at a Jeep main stealers for donkeys years, and has now set up his own garage, well, about 5 years ago.

Has forgotten more about Chrysler stuff than you or I could ever learn etc...

PM me if you like, and I'll put you in touch with him, he do you very nice price biggrin

Yes it's a 4.7 and although it never actually got to the point of boiling over I think it managed to ingest some water whilst we were on the Plain a few months ago and it's not been right since... it runs waay too hot despite having rads flushed several times, fan relays replaced etc etc

It's now failed a sniff test and at one point the last time I was driving it there was water bubbling through one of the exhaust manifold gaskets - I think it needs a rebuild lol

I have known head gasket to later blow after a hot engine has been wading. So yes may well be the reason.
