I am looking at getting into the off road biking scene, dirt trails etc, nothing big just start off see how i go, what are your views on this bike as a start out bike?

seems a good deal?

or what about this one?

http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/pagan-mens-p181122

would you recommend mudguards for it?

and what are the best lights you can get i defintly want to be seen when on the road, i have seen a rear led light which can be seen upto 1/2 mile away but can not remember what it was called.

any other advise would be great, thanks smile

Personally I wouldn't go with Carrera because my personal experience was that the quality of the bike was very poor.

I had a Banshee X which is the more downhill orientated bike. Within months of owning it, the brakes needing bleeding, bits were breaking off. I didn't even use it that much. Also, again - this is just my personal experience but I found the service team at my local Halfords to be terrible, they never finished the job properly and I always ended up with the same problem...

Personally, I would look for a second hand Kona, built to a much higher spec.

Have a look at the Kona Caldera, a very very good bike - this ones £100 more then the Carrera but they're miles apart in quality.
