Hi Collective,

I was just wondering if there were any off-roaders here willing to be on-hand while I test new tyres on a patch of ground next to a byway, consisting of muddied grass, coupled with a few bumps and dips and an incline, and which caused me to get stuck a while ago while shod in all-terrain tyres - that 'melted-ice-cream' phenomenon, filling the tyre tread, creating slicks.

Now shod with Cooper S/T Maxx's, I want to be able to regain my confidence with being on a surface-type which should have been a non-event - with the right tyres. Originally, I got stuck not because I was messing around, but had pulled over off the byway in order to take a phone call. It looked so unassuming at the time.

The 'good' ground for any rescue vehicle is solid tarmac (the byway), literally only yards away.

I'm not looking to abuse the exercise - just negotiate in and out of the patch of ground in question.

Anyone bored enough?

If this were the States - I'd probably get a few takers just to get a look at the tyres, which are new to the market this year, I believe.

Any offers of help or PM's gratefully received!

What are you doing NEXT to a Byway ? By the sounds of it you should not be there.

People just don't get it do they, why play off a Byway and give the rest of us a bad name.

This has happened in Surrey and now most Byways have been closed, get's my goat.

Go find somewere legal to play tyre testing.

Your last line should read "Anyone stupid enough"

These lads will be able to point you in the right direction.
Head over to Sibbertoft or Peterborough way there are two great pay and play sites there.

Are you a member over there? I've been going out with them for quite a while now.

I am but I am currently not a 4x4 owner as the FFRR had to go last Feb.
I have work 4x4's but not one for play.
Am tentatively keeping an eye on the For sale section for a Fun/Shooting wagon.
