I thought a few of you might like some of holiday snaps from Iceland last week. We went on a 4x4 tour up through the Þingvellir national park to the Langjökull glacier with this chap https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fjallasport/1074926... in his slightly modified Nissan Patrol. Reynir used to modify these vehicles for a living but since the financial crash he switched to taking tourists out on trips.
This is on about 1.5 meters of snow, he's on 38" Mickey Thomson Baja Claws here, in the winter he switches to 44" tyres, and runs them as low as 3psi to drive on top of deeps snow rather than sinking in to it.
Icelands idea of a traffic jam
There's loads of these kind of vehicles around, and I reckon they look fantastic
Though some of them aren't looking so good

That penultimate picture, is that some sort of American van given a serious lift treatment?
Yeah, most of them are based on normal 4x4s (a lot of Landcruisers and Patrols, but quite a few American 4x4s and pickups) but we saw a few of these big vans around too, presumably to take big groups of tourists out. Reynir's websites got some interesting trucks on it, as well his photos on the facebook link above. http://www.fjallasport.is/budrover said:

Ian & Francis are friends of mine and Mrs E-B and I stayed with them earlier this year. I can wholeheartedly reccommend going to Iceland for a while, I try to get back there as often as i can I'm up to my seventh visit already.http://guesthouse-iceland.com/wp/?page_id=2
Hopefully (budget permitting) i'll get back there next year to compete in the Rally Reykjavic - a fabulous event!
