Can anyone please direct me to a fountain of knowledge for gearbox driven hydraulic PTO's?

I'm in Dubai and a colleague has a defender 90 he's prepping for desert duties. I've already designed a few bits for him, the latest being a chassis mounted hinged spare wheel carrier.

He's upped the difficulty with the latest request, in that he wants me to design a PTO unit. This is within my capabilities [and our machine shops!] but I have no idea where to start. Help please!

ha! making some lightweight sand ladders atm, as he got stuck for 45mins in the desert on the way home last night as the old ones are too cumbersome to keep in the car.

PTO looked like a lot of hours work, glad it wasn't for real.
