Hi guys, I suspect i might get some stick for this but im thinking of painting my tatty looking but straightish 300tdi discovery olive green or maybe sand coloured.

My idea is that i paint it all green or sand except the bumpers and below the bump strips which would be black. I dont want it camoflaged i just want it painted with something thats easy to touch up if it gets a bit tatty again in the future.

I use it mainly for pay and play and the odd green lane. Its got a winch bumper, safari snorkle, 235/85/16 tyres with a camel cut and will have a 2 inch lift by the time i get around to painting it.

What im hoping for is that you guys on here can give your opinions (good or bad) on the paint scheme and hopefully post some pics of ones that you have seen, cant find much on google.

Cheers, Mark

Yes I will be painting it myself using gloss rollers and a small brush to do the detail bits. I've been told that satin NATO green is better than matt because it's easier to clean and doesn't show scratches as much.

I'm not fussed about a prize winning paintjob because it's an offroader at the end of the day, I just want it a bit smarter than it already is and I don't like the current colour (Oxford blue).

One of the coolest looking 4x4s I ever saw was a matt green classic RR, and I don't even like LR stuff smile

It's your motor mate, so you do what you like. Nothing to do with anyone else.

FWIW I plan on doing the same on mine, just for a laugh. It will be applied with a roller as well.

Really couldn't give a toss what anyone else thinks, so best of luck to you.

I dont really mind if people dont like the idea of nato green but i just want to know what people think, good or bad. Im also hoping somebody might have a pic of one that has already been done or have another idea that i could go with.

Im quite keen on Tangiers Orange like the G4 disco's but thats been over done i think. But im open to other suggestions, especially if people can back them up with pictures.

I reckon Land Rover Bronze Green like my IIA, its available in hard wearing machine enamel, as used on agricultural stuff like ploughs. I'd make sure I'd prepared the bodywork too, nothing looks worse than peeling or reacting paint. I'd spray it, nearly as quick as rolling and I reckon the finish and durability is better. Having said that my brother got a awesome finish on his brush painted, no brush marks or runs.

I'd like to spray it but I can't justify buying the equipment to do it at the moment and Im happy with the finish from a roller and brush because that's how my dads lightweight was done a few years ago and that's lasted well with decent prep work beforehand.

Thanks fesuvious thumbup . Thats the sort of inspiration I was hoping for. Any more pics? I really like the look of that though.

My head is being turned towards rotate a sand effect instead of the green but im 60/40 in favour of green at the moment.

Really like that fesuvious, one day I'll build my own.

Is it based on one of the kits from Longranger?

No, its all steel.
The longranger kits look fantastic. However, I'm not sure about fibreglass.... I wouldn't want to be in one if it took a severe smack or if it rolled.
My thoughts exactly!
